I'm looking into selling cosmetics from home, I'm thinking maybe ebay, in addition to just handing out flyers and talking to people in malls, the subway etc. Has anyone ever tried this before, please share your thoughts and ideas. Thanks

I would be very careful before finding a company to sell for before selling on e-bay. I am a consultant for Arbonne and selling this way is not allowed. Arbonne has incredible products and the integrity of the company is very important. Selling on e-bay is not the way the company wants to be represented. Check their site out at www.arbonne.com.

Good point, MK products are not to be sold at flea markets or ebay either.

Without seeing Home Interior products, Avon, Mary Kay, Arbonne and several others that have stated in the contract that these products are not to be sold at flea markets or in a public storefront or on the internet in any way. It is a Southern tradition to break the rules of these companies. Check the search on eBay under any of these names and you'll find out that many people simply cannot work the system the way these companies have them set up.

Now I'll tell you why they can't succeed at it. Because they don't try. They look for the shortcuts and they don't work the plans that the companies give them in their start-up kits or don't follow the sales meeting tips and tricks for obtaining and retaining quality customers. It takes a lot of work to go out of the system and as I see it, the prices in the stores and flea markets aren't any better than ordering the merchandise directly from the displayer/representative. And you can be assured of the quality of the merchandise when you order it directly from a representative and not on eBay or a flea market.

These companies made BILLIONS of dollars last year direct selling to a home-based clientle. Why? Because they worked the system the way their particular company asked them to do and didn't deviate from it. They gave the home parties and gave the free gifts and hostess incentives. They did what they were supposed to do and they are making excellent money! They have built up their downline and are coming into their own! Shortcutting will get you nowhere with direct selling companies.

I put a search in for Mary Kay on eBay and came up with 18,221 hits. If you sell MK on eBay, you'll have to undercut your competitors so much that paying the eBay fee and the shipping may not be worth it to you. Just a thought.
