Hey, I'm thinking of starting up a t-shirt making company and i really don't know where to start from. I have got a great idea on what i want and the designs but i need help locating a good screen printer and a company that manufactures t-shirt.

We acutally design our own graphics but I also design rubberstamps so this falls into our plans..lol..

Designing a t-shirt and then trying to sell the
print to the manufacturer is not going to be easy to do. Nor, is it likely that one design is going to be the basis of a profitable company.

I recommend starting out by buying our shirts and then reselling them to gain experience in the industry. We are looking for agents to do this. From there you can find someone to print your design for you and add it to your line.

Please get back to me with any input, and questions you might have. We currently sell to over 125 stores so I should be able to answer any questions you might have.

You stated even the pros couldn't touch the pricing you have on
blankshirts.com, well I'm here to say, I get my shirts for even
less than what you are paying. If I buy 1, I get case pricing, and
even my case pricing is lower than what you are paying.

The problem I have with blank shirts is, they let anyone and
everyone see their "reseller" pricing. Suppliers are supposed to
protect that, so the end cusomters don't know. It would be like
us going to the suppliers for Walmart and looking a the pricing
Walmart pays for their products. We'd probably be outraged and
say, how come we are being charged so much. Same concept.

You said where you get shirts is cheaper than blank shirts.
Are you going to share your source?

All of these are very similar in pricing. Since I get case pricing for
all of them, I always get the bottom line price. Even with Broder
Brothers, on many items, I get a lower price than case pricing,
because of the volume I have done with them over the years.

Again, the main problem I have with Blank Shirts is they give
anyone and everyone their wholesale pricing on the web.

If you call any of the suppliers above, without being a customer,
they will only give you retail pricing.

I stumbled across blankshirts.com 2day and I totally agree with U.
When I saw a wholesale and a resale entrance I just KNEW that U would need some kind of password or login 2 see the wholesale prices.

Hi - For starters, sign up with a wholesale shirt distributor. Some of their names are Broder Brothers, Alpha Shirt Company, & NES Clothing. Once you do that, you are set in the sense that now you are able to get blank apparel. Next, you must get some equipment. Either screen printing, embroidery, or sublimation. Sublimation supplies & equipment will definately be the cheapest. Imprints USA should be able to help with sublimation printing equip...but I have only heard of Imprints USA, not used them. Lastly, get a manual for sublimating (somewhat easy) & then sign up for a shipping account with UPS, FedEx, or DHL....Thanks & best of luck.

In the past I've searched for a business to startup with minimal
cost. I've never really found anything without some type of
startup fee, and most of them are MLM.

Well, seven years ago, I began a printing business. Now I'm
offering others to use my services with no startup cost or hidden
fees. I began this business with $7,000 and now it's worth
multiple times that.

It's quite simple. If you would like to start a T-shirt printing
business we have retail pricing we give you. The retail pricing
you receive is for your customers. We also give you a wholesale
price list. The wholesale printing pricing alone is 30% off of the
retail. The retail pricing is truly up to you on how much you want
to charge your customers, we simply have a range of pricing that
we have found to be successful for the retail trade. You simply
find customers, quite often in the beginning it's friends or family
members who know somebody. Clubs, Churches, Local
Businesses, etc.

There are no out of pocket expenses. We simply print the job,
and you pay the wholesale price. Deliver the product and collect
the check. If you do not have the capital to purchase the shirts
from distributors, we buy the shirts for you!

Here is a sample price grid.

You have a customer who wants 100 shirts for a company picnic.
Their logo is 3 colors on white shirts, they want the logo on the
front and a one color design on the back. All sizes are S-XL,
here is how you would figure your cost.

Retail for the printing is $3.40 for the front and $1.47 for the
back, totalling $4.87. The cost of the shirt is $3.36. There are
four screen setups (1 for each color and each side, 3 colors front
1 color back) at $25 per screen.

($4.87 + $3.36) x 100 (shirts) = $823 + $100 (screens) = $923
final bill to the customer.

Wholesale for the printing is $3.41 ($4.87 - 30%). The cost of
the shirt wholesale is $2.52. The four screens are $20 per screen
or $80.

($3.41 + $2.52) x 100 = $593 + $80 = $673

I have found on the average it costs about $0.20 shipping per
shirt so there would be a $20 shipping charge. Final profit for
this job would be:

$923 - $673 - $20 (shipping) = $230

The only other requirement is a minimum order of 72 shirts. If
you have less than 72 shirts there is a $35 below the minimum
fee.

As we build together, I can give explanations on the printing
process and even train you to print with your own equipment.
We do not sell equipment but have resources that we have found
to be good quality equipment.

One last note, some of these online businesses are excellent in
the sense of not printing more than one shirt at a time, the only
problem I have with them, is there cost for the shirts and their
fees. They are sometimes pretty high.

Hey I listened to the seminar. It was about 3 hours long. Well worth the money believe me. I was happy to realise that I was already on the right track. It exposed me to some new ideas that I had not thought of. Now I know where to get my t-shirts from. If you live in NY or surrounding areas this is a must for you. You need a wider avenue approach to get the kind of publicity and findbeek that you are looking for. Consider putting your wholesale business on ebay for people to buy through in bulk.

I am getting my t-shirts manufactured overseas b/c I could not
find a supplier for the type of shirts I needed -- blank maternity
shirts. I signed up with alibaba and got a huge number of
manufacturers interested in making my shirts. I'm getting the
shirts made in India and I'm getting a fantastic deal. My
manufacturer is making my shirts in 3 sizes, 3 colors and sewing
my label in. I plan on selling online and in select retail shops.

FYI -- I noticed on some other posts some information
regarding trademarking a logo . . . a piece of art is automatically
trademarked upon creation of the mark. A registered logo is one
that is file with the government. The ® is registered and the ™ is
trademarked.
